The ViWISSO Executive Summary reviews the global standardization landscape for Virtual Worlds, the Metaverse, and related technologies, drawing on an assessment of over 900 standards and 350 technical reports. It identifies key gaps, overlaps, and coordination needs across eight technological domains and offers strategic recommendations to strengthen interoperability, ethics, and governance. The report also highlights the importance of European leadership through open, inclusive, and human-centric frameworks aligned with societal values and EU digital policy goals.
