On July 3rd and 4th, 2019, the third XR Expo took place in the Wagenhallen in Stuttgart. The tech event showed industrial applications of virtual, augmented and mixed reality (XR).The successful concept of the XR Expo has now proven itself for a third time: The tech event, which was known as "VR Expo" the previous year, was also very popular under the new name. For two days, 650 participants explored XR solutions and projects for industry, architecture, medicine, trade and crafts. Sixty exhibitors took part in the XR Expo. The trade fair was accompanied by a congress: 22 lectures dealt with application experiences, market developments and technological innovations. The list of speakers included speakers from Audi, B Braun, Capgemini, Crytek, Daimler, Deutsche Bahn, Deutsche Telekom, Fraunhofer, Microsoft, Nvidia, PTC and Unity3D, among others.

The trend topic "Artificial Intelligence (AI)" was also picked up at the XR Expo: one of the four panels took on the topic and discussed the future interaction of XR with AI, for example for AI-supported construction or assistance systems.

The XR Expo is organized by the Virtual Dimension Center Fellbach (VDC) and LIGHTSHAPE GmbH & Co. KG. VDC Managing Director Dr. Christoph Runde was satisfied with the XR Expo 2019: "Professional users from a wide variety of industries were able to obtain very good information on the current status of industry-ready VR and AR solutions at the XR Expo. Numerous trade visitors took advantage of this offer.” Robin Wenk, Managing Director of LIGHTSHAPE, explains:
"The positive feedback from exhibitors and visitors confirms that we have succeeded in creating a unique platform for professional users, providers and the tech community, which is also heard nationally."
